The only issue I have is the footer Widgets are appearing in black background which is making readability very tough. Can you please help me with fixing this.

Quick question if you do not mind, how do I add the image for the post so that it can be in the home page like how your example page looks like? For example, I just updated my theme to yours, but I am not sure how to add a cover photo for my blog post.

All you have to do is add a Featured Image. While Editing a post, you will see the option in the bottom of ride sidebar.

I will work on it in the next update. If you want to hide the featured image on the post pages, you can do that by simply going to
Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and entering this
#featured-image { display: none; }
