Gaming Innovation Group (GIG) has managed to get two licenses by Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling in Spain (DGOJ). GIG is permitted to run an online casino and sports betting in Spain. These two licenses would not only allow the Gaming Innovation Group to operate in Spain, but also the group can expand its strategies in the regulated and fast-growing market. GIG will use its flagship brand Rizk to enter into the Spanish market through two licenses. The group is expected to take bets in Q4 and scale up operation in Q1 2020.
Robin Reed is the CEO of GIG. He said, “We are delighted to be awarded the Spanish licenses and are looking forward to serving the market with our top performing operator Rizk and our full suite of B2C and B2B products and solutions. The approximately €1bn market is the strongest growing market in Europe, at a rate of approximately 20%* per year, yet only 12% of the gambling is happening online, compared to more than 50% in mature digital markets in Europe, this represents a great opportunity for GiG.”
The launch of GIG into Spain market will help it to become a global partner and operator of casino games for B2C and B2B brands. Spain legalized online gambling in the country in 2011. Since then, many online casino gamers such as Scr888 are providing their services to players. Last year gross gaming revenue in Spain was $10 billion. 12% share came from online gambling. According to financial experts, GIG’s acquisition of two licenses into Spain market would increase the share of online casino gambling up to 18%.
